Well, still in the midst of the pandemic, here we are in the land of online school with my tween daughter in the driver's seat. If there's one thing she's learning, and I'm certainly learning, it's that there must be a strategy to knock out this online school thing. First up is time management. Just as I have experienced being a freelancer and setting my own schedule (and working tirelessly to keep and stay on a schedule), my daughter is learning that adopting and keeping a schedule is going to make all the difference. And then there's sheer participation, as in literally being present for Zoom classes (and present in mind too)! If her first Zoom class is at 9 am, get on down to the computer and be ready to go at 8:50 am -- ready to be present and learn. This is certainly new territory for my daughter and her teachers alike. There have been a few bumps, on both ends, and there will surely be more to come. And that brings me to ATTITUDE. Will there be a Zoom class that just won't load when needed? Sure! Will there be an assignment that takes just a bit longer to complete than expected? You got it! But if she pushes through in moments of uneasiness, she'll be better for it in the end. We round out the strategy with support. Our family is here to be cheerleaders and anything else we need to be for encouragement along the way.

So, we'll look to good time management and participation, a positive attitude, and support to power through the school year. Seatbelts are fastened, and it's go time!
